Mar 11, 2018 Daylight Saving Time Starts
The main purpose of Daylight Saving Time (called “Summer Time” in many places in the world) is to make better use of daylight.
We change our clocks during the summer months to move an hour of daylight from the morning to the evening.
Benjamin Frankin, the Father of DST?
Many sources also credit Benjamin Franklin with being the first to suggest seasonal time change.
However, the idea voiced by the American inventor and politician in 1784 can hardly be described as fundamental for the development of modern DST. After all, it did not even involve turning the clocks.
In a letter to the editor of the Journal of Paris, which was entitled “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light”,
An Ancient Idea,” Although modern DST has only been used for about 100 years, ancient civilizations are known to have engaged in comparable practices thousands of years ago. For example, the Roman water clocks used different scales for different months of the year to adjust the daily schedules to the solar time”.
The beginning of spring is not always determined by fixed calendar dates. The biological indicators the blossoming of a range of plants are different in areas.
“During spring, the axis of the Earth is increasing its tilt relative to the Sun, and the length of daylight rapidly increases for the relevant hemisphere. The hemisphere begins to warm significantly causing new plant growth to “spring forth,” giving the season its name. Snow, if a normal part of winter, begins to melt, and streams swell with runoff. Frosts, if a normal part of winter, become less severe. In climates that have no snow and rare frosts, the air and ground temperatures increase more rapidly”.
So in spring season relax and meditate with relaxing nature and birds sounds. 🙂
