Waffles in Brugge

Travellingtheworldoneholidayatatime

One of the best thing about travelling is sampling the local food. Aside from the pebbled streets and Gothic architecture Brugge has waffles! I was 15 when I first visited the city and returned many times after but the food I took away was melted belgium chocolate waffles. I must have eaten nothing but for a week on one of my trips and it always brings me back to the old square.

Last year I finally received the present I had wanted for some time, a fancy waffle maker. Now this makes the perfect golden, crispy waffles in 3.5 minutes with probably very little skill. Below is a basic recipe for waffles and a good starting point to make your own perfect waffles.

Warm Belgium waffles

All you need is:

A waffle maker or waffle iron

A bar of Belgium chocolate

3 eggs

150g of butter

1.5 cups of sugar
